HexClad agreed to a $2.5 million class action settlement to resolve claims that its cookware was falsely advertised as free from toxic chemicals like PFAS and PFOA. The lawsuit says these substances were present in HexClad products, despite marketing that labeled them as “PFAS-Free,” “PFOA-Free,” or free from harmful materials.
Plaintiffs in the case say they relied on this labeling when deciding to purchase HexClad cookware. They claim the presence of these chemicals contradicts the company’s core branding and misleads consumers about the safety of the product. The lawsuit argues that buyers wouldn’t have paid premium prices—or may not have bought the products at all—had they known the truth.
HexClad denies all wrongdoing and maintains that its products are safe. However, it agreed to settle to avoid further litigation.
Class members will receive a cash payment based on how many eligible cookware products they purchased and the price they paid. Those who bought one product are expected to receive a larger per-item payout than those who purchased multiple items. The final payment amount will depend on how many claims are submitted.
No proof of purchase is required for claims involving one or two products. Claims for three or more products must include supporting documentation.
